Privacy Policy

Honin is a calm tile-placing game for iPhone and iPad. This policy explains what happens to your information when you play the game or join its mailing list.

The short version

No accounts, analytics or tracking in the game.
The game sends nothing to the developer. Your game data stays on your device, and in your own iCloud and Game Center if you use them, where Apple looks after it.
The mailing list is optional. If you join, your email address is stored with a third-party email provider.

Data stored on your device

Honin saves your progress, your unfinished journey, the worlds in The Loom and your settings (sound, tile tray, iCloud switch) in the app's own storage on your device. This data never leaves your device unless you use iCloud, described below.

iCloud (optional)

When iCloud Sync is on and you are signed in to iCloud:

Saved worlds and their thumbnails are stored in your private iCloud database.
Your progress (scores, unlocks and achievements) is stored in iCloud key-value storage.

This data sits in your own iCloud account, under Apple's Privacy Policy. The developer cannot see or access it. You can turn sync off in Honin's Settings › iCloud. You can review or delete the stored data in the iOS Settings app › your name › iCloud.

Game Center (optional)

If you sign in to Game Center, Honin reports your achievements and your scores on the Master Weavers leaderboard to Apple. Other players may see your Game Center nickname and scores. Game Center is run by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy, and you can manage it in the iOS Settings app › Game Center.

Crash reports

Honin has no crash reporting or analytics of its own. If you have turned on Share With App Developers in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share anonymous crash and performance reports with the developer.

If you join the mailing list, your email address is stored with our email provider, NEWSLETTER_PROVIDER, which sends the emails on our behalf. The developer uses the list only to send news about Honin, such as the launch and major updates.

NEWSLETTER_PROVIDER handles your address under its own terms and privacy policy, which the developer does not control. Please read them before you sign up.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. To ask for your address to be removed from the list, email support@playhonin.com.

Keeping and deleting your data

Deleting Honin removes everything stored on your device. Data in iCloud and Game Center stays in your Apple account until you delete it there, as described above. To erase your synced progress and worlds everywhere, delete Honin's data in the iOS Settings app › your name › iCloud. Your email address stays on the mailing list until you unsubscribe or ask for it to be removed.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
